The coldest city in Tamil Nadu from country to country

The coldest city in Tamil Nadu from country to country

As soon as you say Tamil Nadu, you are reminded of the turbulent environment in which various Jani people roam, with no end to the constant thunder from the blazing sun and the noise of vehicles.

But Tamil Nadu belongs to a cold city that is completely different from that dense hot environment.
It is about 550 km from the city of Chennai. In the case of a motor vehicle, the time is more than 10 hours. It is not possible to travel directly by train from Chennai to that cold city or Ooty.

You can reach Mettupalayam by Nilgiri Express train and from there reach Ooty via Thunur. It takes about 13 hours.

The most beautiful views can be seen while traveling by bus or car.
The climate of the Nilgiris changes from time to time. On the way to Ooty you have to pass 36 very narrow bends within 30 km.

Nilgiri means blue mountain. The district in which Ooty is located is also known as Nilgiris.

Ooty is an acronym. It is Udagamandalam. It is said to have been broken by Ottakkal Mandu. In Tamil it means a village on a single rock.

Ooty is located 86 km north of Coimbatore and 128 km south of Mysore.

On the way to Ooty, the hustle and bustle of the city gradually subsides and you slowly enter a blue road. Although they are said to be blue, they also show that they have been exposed to the sun.
On reaching the Nilgiri Hills, a Sri Lankan remembers the Bandarawela area.
The tea estates, the tea factories seen above, intensify that feeling. On the way you can enjoy a pleasant climate with no extreme cold or extreme heat like in Bandarawela.

The roads are often quiet, with no traffic. That stillness is broken from time to time by buses and other motor vehicles carrying tourists.

Special mention should be made of the buses provided by certain travel agencies in India. The passenger section of them is air conditioned. But the driver's part is not air conditioned. It's like a cabin with a front seat. These buses are equipped with mobile phone charging facilities. This facility can also be seen in long distance trains.

Ooty is located in the upper part. So the cold is too much. Ooty has an annual temperature of 14 degrees Celsius.

The best time to visit Ooty is from April to October. April is hot in many parts of India, especially in Tamil Nadu. Due to this, many tourists flock to Ooty. Another reason for this is that the Hindu New Year is also a holiday.
Ooty is said to have been discovered in 1817 during British rule. It was by John Sullivan, an administrative officer in Coimbatore. It has since been home to the Ooty aristocracy.
The first written evidence of Ooty was found in March 1821. It was a letter sent to a Madras Gazette. The Todas lived in the Nilgiris before the British took over. They are considered an aboriginal people. It is said that the Thoda people were engaged in farming at that time and also controlled cattle.

It later came under the control of the East India Company.

The Nilgiris can be seen kissing the sky. Its locals refer to these mountains as the Queen's Mountains.

The Nilgiris region is believed to have been under the rule of various kings such as the Satavahanas since ancient times. Apart from that, the great kings of Mysore also ruled. It is said that Tipu Sultan expanded the borders of the Nilgiris conquered in the 18th century. In order to escape from the enemies at different times, caves have to be prepared and hidden.
After the liberation from British rule, the status quo of the Ooty aristocracy changed and it developed into a tourist attraction.

Ooty is exactly like Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. Its botanical garden is 55 acres. Haggala Gardens in Nuwara Eliya is reminiscent of flower stalls and summer cottages. The difference is that the traffic in Ooty is heavier than in the Haggala area. The unique tree in this park is the Fossil Tree. The trunk of the fossil tree is estimated to be 20 million years old.
As we visit the Haggala Garden, many tourists can be seen walking among the bouquets of flowers at the Uti Botanic Gardens.

Located at an altitude of 2240 m above sea level, Utah is estimated to have a population of 90,000. Its official language is Tamil.

There are many hotels built for tourists. Apart from visiting the park, another special place is the Ooty Stone Bungalow. This is considered to be the first bungalow built in 1822 by John Sullivan. Speaking of architecture here, it is reminiscent of the model of buildings in England.

Dodabettu peak, Kalheti waterfall, Piyakara waterfall, Ooty rose garden, Ooty toy train as well as the wax figure house which is a very popular feature in many countries are the other tourist attractions here.

The wax figures are adorned with living wax figures of personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi and Abdul Kalam.

Tourists can indulge in a variety of sports while boating is also a popular feature. This is because Lake Avalanche, Lake Ooty and Lake Emerald are located very close to Ooty.

At the same time you can visit the deer park as well as the national parks. Above all, it is comforting to stay for a day or two in an arid state, such as Tamil Nadu, in a bitterly cold environment.
